Postgraduate Council

The mission of the Postgraduate Council (PGC) is to provide information, support, representation and advice on issues that affect postgraduate students at UNSW and the wider postgraduate student population.

The PGC liaises with UNSW and external parties in order to represent and campaign for postgraduate students.

We are dedicated to improving university life for all postgraduate students including:

  • mature age students
  • students with partners and children
  • international students
  • research students and coursework students

Postgrad students have exclusive access to our Postgrad Lounge in the Arc Precinct, which features couches, a fridge, lockers, games and more.

We also want to provide you with opportunities to take a break from study and get social, so look out for events like wine and cheese nights, balls, and board games nights on our Facebook page.

Message from President:

Hello there!

We are Your PGC.

We endeavor to:

“Sit” with You on matter races, religions, genders;
“Laugh” with You with versatile social platforms;
“Grow” with You with once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

We are eager to hear Your Voice.
And we are always on the way.

Update on UNSW's response to the coronavirus

UNSW is providing regular updates on the coronavirus to students and staff through a daily note. We remain united in supporting all in our community, with tolerance, respect, compassion and inclusion.

Main updates include

  • UNSW has had one positive case of coronavirus as previously reported. The affected student has been released from hospital, and is recovering well. We wish her continued good health. Three other UNSW community members have been tested for the coronavirus - but have all tested negative.

  • It will be possible for students who arrive late to enrol in courses up to the end of Week 2, 28 February, but since such students will need to catch up, we will typically limit enrolment to two courses for these students. Read more in the coronavirus FAQs, which are regularly being updated.

Despite understandable concern, UNSW continues to operate as normal. We assure all students and staff - including our new students - that we are doing all we can to ensure their safety and well-being. This includes regular interaction with government and public health officials at the highest levels.

Repeating our earlier advice, we recommend that if you are feeling unwell, you should contact your GP, a health professional or your nearest hospital emergency department. We suggest you call ahead, explaining your symptoms and travel history, rather than attending in person. NSW Health also has a free helpline. Please call Health Direct on 1800 022 222.

The University has set up a 24-hour helpline for any urgent inquiries: +61 2 9385 8500.
